Join us for an ACCME-accredited Grand Rounds with Dr. Allen Cheng, MD, and Dr. Geurys Rojas-Marte, MD, as they present “Approach to the Patient with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH)”.

Dr. Allen Cheng is Chair of the Surgery Department and a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon at Deborah Heart & Lung Center. He completed his general surgery residency at UCLA, cardiovascular surgery fellowship at Stanford, and cardiothoracic surgery fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard and the University of Rochester. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive valve surgery, TAVR/TMVR, CABG, mitral and aortic valve repair/replacement, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support (including LVAD).

Dr. Geurys Rojas-Marte serves as Medical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Pulmonary Hypertension Programs and is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Deborah Heart & Lung Center. He trained in internal medicine at Maimonides Medical Center (Brooklyn), cardiovascular disease at Rutgers University, and advanced heart failure & transplant cardiology at the University of Florida. His areas of focus include LVAD, heart transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO), and cardiac amyloidosis.

1. Identify patients at risk for developing CTEPH
2. Distinguish clinical signs and symptoms of CTEPH
3. Describe the surgical procedure pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) as the definitive treatment for CTEPH and its indication and  post-operative care
4. Implement strategies for referral of patients within the healthcare system
